During the test, instructions about how to take the test are provided. The instructions can be found in ten different languages: Danish, Swedish, Norwegian, Arabic, German, English, Spanish, Turkish, Greek and Icelandic.
The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)
The test is based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), which is a description of competencies for a given linguistic level. The description is common for all languages spoken in Europe, so Eurotest can be used in all of Europe
Eurotest is based on the CEFR levels from A1 up to and including C1.

The test is a combination of two methods:
Self-evaluation - the user evaluates their own level of ability by choosing from a selection of “I can” statements. On the basis of the user’s answers, Eurotest determines the user’s start level.
Actual test consisting of multiple-choice questions.
When the user has completed the first part of the test, Eurotest assesses whether the self-evaluation and the actual test level are the same.
If the user has performed better than the self-evaluation, the user is sent up a level and the test continues at this higher level. |
If the user has not performed as well as the self-evaluation, the user is sent down a level and the test continues at this lower level. |
The user can, therefore, be sent up or down a level while completing the test. The user simply needs to follow the instructions during the test.
The test consists of six sections which focus on the following linguistic skills:
The test takes approximately 1 hour.
It takes between ½ hour and 1½ hours to complete the test. The duration depends on how often the level is adjusted during the different sections of the test and the level of the user.
You can pause the test at any time. Your answers are saved so it’s possible to continue from where you left off later.
Please note that the test must be completed before access to the test expires, i.e., within 48 hours. Otherwise, the user will have to register again.
